IBM, HP, BMC, Fujitsu to collaborate on a standard specification for CMDB federation and integration. It will be interesting to see where this goes. It should at least help to make sure that when a vendor says they’re open and federated, that they really are.

The companies plan to submit a draft specification to an industry standards organization later this year.

Just found a great blog called Dashboard Spy put together by someone who has a passion for enterprise dashboards and information visualization (hmm, sounds like my kind a guy/gal!). Couple the visualization examples shown here with some of my thoughts on figuring out what’s important in an organization, figuring out how to instrument the business and generating the right events and you’re half way to a great dashboard presentation.

The IBM ITSM campaign was to kick off this week at GigaWorld. I haven’t seen much, if any, PR or coverage yet but I did find our GM Al Zollar’s presentation he gave on Monday here. There are lots of must see things in here – SOA, CCMDB, IT Process Managers, OPAL. Over the next few months our ITSM messaging should really start to ramp up. I’m very excited about our unique approach to the CMDB and the differentiation it will have with the IT Process Managers!
It’s Masters week here in Georgia! IBM is one of few key sponsors of the Masters where commercial time is controlled to only four minutes of every hour of coverage (yeah!). IBM has got some new “What Makes You Special?” commercials included the coverage! The Bobby Jones and Green Jacket spots are great!
