This integration will send IBM Tivoli Monitoring Situation Events to Netcool/Impact for event enrichment, advanced data analysis and correlation, and for notifications and escalations.
The IBM Tivoli Monitoring Situation Events are sent to Netcool/Impact via Web Services. Upon reception of the event Netcool/Impact will run one or more Netcool/Impact policies. These policies make use of Netcool/Impacts wide array of Data Source Adapters and Netcool/Impact Policy Language to perform event enrichment, advanced data analysis, and to perform notifications and escalations.
After the policy is finished, Netcool/Impact can write the results back to the IBM Tivoli Monitoring Universal Message Console where the results can be viewed by support staff.

This integration allows Tivoli Enterprise Portal operators to launch in-context Netcool/Impact Operator Views, giving the operator access to the wealth of data and data analysis available through Netcool/Impact’s Data Source Adapters and the Netcool/Impact Policy Language.
The integration comes in the form of a template script called the Operator View Wrapper. The Operator View Wrapper is called via the Tivoli Enterprise Portal’s right-click Launch tool. The Launch tool sends data about the Tivoli Enterprise Portal object it was launched from to the wrapper and the wrapper displays the Netcool/Impact Operator View in a new window.

This integration allows TEC customers to take advantage of Netcool/Impact’s event enrichment and data integration capabilities. By taking advantage of this integration, TEC customers will be able to implement policies that are able to use 3rd party data external to the TEC event, to integrate with 3rd party tools, to enrich the TEC event with additional valuable data and to take actions against such events as result of such policies.
Through this integration TEC customers can define policies that allow them to:
- Add slots with valuable data to an existing TEC event
- Modify slots in an existing TEC event based on external inputs
- Generate a new event instance based on an existing TEC class
- Generate an event of TEC class “Impact”. This event can be used to provide higher value information to TEC operators or to allow synchronization between Impact and TEC.
