MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR CORE TBSM ENVIRONMENT BEFORE DEPLOYING. THIS INCLUDES WEBTOP, TIP and TCR content. See a previous TBSM Tip of the Week for ideas on backing up TBSM.
This Interim Fix addresses problems reported in IBM Tivoli Business Service Manager 4.2. TBSM 4.2 IF2 superceeds TBSM 4.2 IF1.
The Discovery Library Toolkit and ITM Policy based Data Fetcher support pieces of the IF have not changed and will remain at the IF1 level.
Do not apply TBSM IF1 on top of TBSM IF2 for any reason.

When using the property: impact.sla.secondstillstartstandalone=5 To start the backup machine in standalone mode, the backup doesn’t start unless the primary has started first
IZ28625 SERVICE TREE IS MISSING INSTANCES UNDER INTERMEDIATE CHILD
When a new instances is created via an autopop rule and ESDA parent rule, and immediate services exist in the hierarchy
that should be affected, the instance is not seen in the service tree. The service instances is seen in the TBSM database, the delete services window, and the add dependents view.
IZ29610 SERVICES DUPLICATE IN THE SERVICE TREE AFTER DESKTOP IS LEFT
Duplicate services appear at the root of the service tree. These services are the intermediate services that are displayed
within a hierarchy creating instances via ESDA. The only time the instances show at the root of the tree is when the users
digs into the service model to display the intermediate parents in the tree. When the intermediate instances are invalidated,
they are deleted from the tree then added back right away. There relationships for the intermediate instances are not
recalculated until a new tree is retreived from the server via a viewpoint refresh.
IZ30800 ESDA QUERY CAN NOT EXCEED 1024 BITES
When the customer tries to save a template which contains an ESDA rule which has a SQL query that exceeds 1024 characters, it fails.
IZ30976 ESDA INTERFACE NEEDS TO CHECK FOR ALLOWABLE CHARACTERS
When creating new services via ESDA, services are allowed to have newline and carriage return characters in their names. However, when this is allowed, the service cannot be shown in the service tree and the service cannot be exported.
IZ31843 PARENT SERVICES DELETED AFTER CHILD SERVICE IS INVALIDATED
If the connection to the datasource of an ESDA source is lost, such as in a cable pull situation, and the services are
invalidated, the parents of the invalidated service are deleted and in some instances the remaining services are moved to the
root of the tree.
IZ34892 NULL value in numerical rules
When the text rules pull in a value that has the value “NULL” or “null” the rule displays “0” on a custom service tree.
IZ37679 SERVICE VIEWER DOESN’T PAINT COMPLETELY, SOME BLANK AREAS
When the service viewer is expanded/maximized and then restored, the applet containing the service viewer does not occupy all the horizontal portlet realestate resulting in a large gray or white unused space. Additionally, there is a thin strip of white
initially on IE only.
IZ38526 RAD FAILOVER&FAIL-BACK IS UNEXPECTEDLY UPDATING REMOTE OMNIBUS
If an event storm comes into omnibus during the TBSM failover process, the prior status will be shown instead of the new status and the tally field of the event increases by one.
IZ38629 THERE ARE EVENTS IN OBJECT SERVER MATCHING THIS INSTANCE
In an event storm, some events are not processed by TBSM at times.A simple way to reprocess the events on demand is needed.
IZ38947 TBSM 42 EXPORT SERVICES WITH \R IN DESCRIPTION

IZ39009 CUSTOM CANVAS FREEZES AFTER 4 HOURS.
Service Viewer screen goes white intermittantly. The only way to fix it is to restart Internet Explorer
IZ39100 CSS FUNCTION TO ALLOW FORMATTING OF NUMERIC RULE OUTPUTS IN THE KPI
values should be formatted as integers in the viewer
Now: 42690.0
After: 42,690
IZ39734 IE HANGS LOADING LARGE NUMBERS OF INSTANCES INTO SERVICE TREE
When a parent that is populated by an ESDA is expanded in the service tree, some children are added multiple times to the
parent.
IZ39888 RESTARTING TBSM SERVERS RESETS SLA POLICY SETTINGS
Internal rules that report the status of current downtimes of slas may be incorrect when TBSM starts up.
IZ40144 DATAFETCHER LOG DISPLAY SHOWS THE WRONG LOG
In some circumstances, when displaying Datafetchers in the Service Navigation, if you select Show Log against one
datafetcher, the log display shows the log for another one.
IZ42292 TOOLKIT RESOURCE INVALIDATION PROCESS SLOW
Discovery takes several hours.
IZ43812 CUSTOMER INSTALLED INTERIM FIX 1 TO THE TBSM 4.2
Installing IF1 removes customization.
IZ45779 WHEN SELECTING DIFFERENT LEVELS ON DISPLAY STOPS
On Service Viewer, Service not updated when number of levels up and down change. This works the first time, but not subsequent times, when the document already exists. No error is given. The view just does not refresh.
* Webtop APARS included in this Interim Fix:
IZ08045
Map browser list does not automatically refresh after a map is created. The issue is fixed and new maps are added to the list automatically.
IZ37221
Webtop 2.2 – Filter Builder unable to handle large number of LDAP users Problem has been fixed by using AdminCommand API rather than slow InstanceAuth API in dci_security.jar and by not retrieving list of all users, but only users with Webtop roles assigned.
IZ14796
Entity status requests via status servlet only ever returned from default data source. This caused issues with multidomain Network Manager configuration where there is no central ObjectServer but each domain has separate ObjectServermand Tivoli Netcool/Webtop connects to each of them. Status in Topoviz maps was displayed from default data source regardless
of domain selected. Problem was addressed in Tivoli Netcool/Webtop by enhancing entity registration handling process triggered by Topoviz.
IZ12265
Changes to text font and text size of inactive buttons in Map Editor have no effect. The issue is fixed and changes to text font and size take effect.
IZ14830
Smart Matching is not working as specified in IBM Tivoli Netcool/Webtop Administration Guide. The issue is fixed and key strokes are working as mentioned in IBM Tivoli Netcool/Webtop Administration Guide.
IZ18472
Column width of ‘Current Items’ and ‘Add Items’ in Menus Editor cannot adjust according to tool’s name. The issue is solved by adding horizontal and vertical scroll bars in ‘Current Items’ and ‘Add Items’ columns.
IZ22105
Selecting or clearing the Show Highest Color/Show Lowest Color check boxes and clicking Apply->Save in the AEL Preference panel results in a NullPointerException in the Java console and the changes are not applied to the Monitor boxes.
This problem has been resolved and the changes will correctly apply to the Monitor Boxes on modifying the preferences in the AEL Preferences panel.
IZ22106
Show lowest severity color check box is grayed but selected when ‘Show lowest severity’ parameter is disabled (should be grayed and unchecked) Show Lowest Color check box has been amended and is cleared when clearing Show Lowest Severity check box.
IZ20492
Multiple monitor boxes inserted in a web page using insert:AEL smartpage command fails to load. The issue is fixed and monitor boxes can be loaded.
IZ13962
Changes to the font and font size via AEL Edit Preferences are lost after browsing to different page. The issue is solved and the font and font size are changed.
IZ23055
Running WAAPI method cgi.registercgi against previously registered CGI causes java.lang.NullPointerException. This defect was caused by an object of the Tivoli Netcool/Webtop CGI manager component that did not start properly when registering CGI tools. The problem was addressed by starting the CGI subsystem properly.
IZ37439
Chinese code not interpreted correctly in entity and entity views. When column titles in entity views are set using multibyte characters (eg. chinese), it is not displayed correctly after the Tivoli Integrated Portal server restarts either in entity views or in AEL. The problem was caused by the data being written to the file without using UTF-8 encoding. The problem has now been resolved by using correct encoding while writing the data to the file system.
IZ20932
Netcool/Webtop tools no longer work after one tool opens new window w/ new AEL and closes it. The issue is fixed by changing how the tool manager component code is accessed.
IZ07975
View jumps to first in AEL view list combo box when tool opens multiple new windows. If a tool executed over multiple events were opening new AELs in new windows, view in the original AEL was reset to first available view. This was caused by inappropriate synchronization of view definitions between old AEL, new AELs and Tivoli Netcool/Webtop server. Problem was addressed by improving code responsible for synchronization of views with Tivoli Netcool/Webtop server. The same problem was also observed for filters and was also addressed in this fix.
IZ22028
Class list box in tool editor does not display more than 28 characters. The issue is solved by adding horizontal and vertical scroll bars in available class list box and selected class list box. Due to HTML limitations, even if items in the list are shorter than the list itself, the horizontal scrollbar is always displayed.
IZ20892
Available entity list box in Entity editor does not resize for long names. The issue is solved by adding horizontal and vertical scroll bars in available entity list box and current dependencies list box. Due to HTML limitations, even if items in the list are shorter than the list itself, the horizontal scrollbar is always displayed.
IZ24023
Background map color does not change under Java 1.6 installed in a browser. This defect occurred because currently there is no check for the condition when the user creates map using no background image and some specified background color. Hence by implementing this check, the problem is avoided wherein a map created in HTML editor shows the background color correctly when opened with JDK 1.6.
IZ21888
User permissions are cached after user logs out The problem is fixed by getting user’s permission from session and setting it correctly.
IZ16348
Switching between Webtop filters in AEL takes long time when filter has many events. The issue is fixed by changing the way Tivoli Netcool/Webtop reads and writes data.
IZ14892
Events selected by one user in AEL change after refresh if another user deletes one or more events above the event selected by the first user. The issue is fixed and selected events stay the same after refresh.
IZ16971
Browser is locked-up if AEL or Map is displayed for an indeterminate time.

Hi Doug,
I´m having problems installing TBSM 4.2 on AIX 6.1 (64Bits), IBM support tells me to install this fix, but I understand that this FIX be installed when you have operational TBSM, which in my case it is´nt. You can tell me how to apply this FIX to be used in a clean installation please?
Best regards.
emailed direct, opened PMR. There was a tech flash on this issue that required copying a file from the IF to the original install media to update the DE.
