Interesting Links for April 29th

in General

Links that I have found interesting for April 29th:

  • Transactions are the currency for SOA management – SOA Talk – As has been said elsewhere, ‘tracking the transactions’ is the name of the game in performance management these days. In SOA and composite applications, with many moving parts, it is a daunting game.

“You have to track each transaction individually. They don’t live in one spot,” said Ed Horst, Vice President of Product Strategy, AmberPoint.

With transactions, Horst reminds us, “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

“Each individual piece may be performing per its requirements, but the overall transaction is not.” This is something that classic styles of performance tracking can miss. As Horst says: “All the ‘lights are green,’ but the transaction is not completing properly.”

  • Enterprise Management Associates Report Names OpTier as Quality of Experience Leader – OpTier(R), the leader in Business Transaction Management(TM) (BTM) for the enterprise, today announced that Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), a leading IT management research and consulting firm, has chosen OpTier as a leader in its recent report titled "An Adopter's Guide to User Experience Management: How to Pick the Right QoE Solution for You" in the 'Application — Web-only, SOA, Web 2 QoE solution' category. Along with its leadership position, OpTier was ranked as a key player in the 'Application Life Cycle' and 'Business Impact End User' categories. An excerpt from the report is available at OpTier.com.

  • Hi Doug,

Nice blog. I hope to spend sometime here and comment now and then. My company is Nastel Technologies. I am a former IBMer. I was the Product Manager for TADDM. Did we know each other?
Nastel has an upcoming webinar on 5/12 on BTM, though we call it BTP Business Transaction Performance. Can I post something about it here?

    Thanks,

    Charley Rich

  • My website is: http://www.nastel.com

  • Hi Charley, Yes, I remember you very well. We worked on some “issues” in the past with TADDM and supported sensors, etc. šŸ™‚

Is this the IBM/Nastel webinar? Send me the info and I’ll post. I think I signed up for it.

How do you define BTM? What’s the difference between BTM (as I’ve captured thoughts on it on my blog) and BTP?

    Tks,

    Doug
