IBM Tivoli Pulse 2009 Business Partner Day and Opening Reception

in General, IBM, Pulse 2009, Tivoli

The first long day today and the feet are sore already. The Tivoli Business Partner summit kicked off with a luncheon where I met a couple Maximo business partners and a traditional Tivoli business partner. The discussions varied to how the Smarter Planet theme was relevant to their business plans and how it was enabling them to elevate the discussion across the broad Tivoli portfolio.

The kick off session featured Al Zollar outlining how critical our business partners are to winning and success of the Smarter Planet and Dynamic Infrastructure messages. He followed up by announcing the winners for the Business Partner Innovation and Service Management awards. Congrats to generationE and ReachView who were two finalists that I’ve worked with in the past. I’ve got some video to post of these to sessions.

There were sessions on the global impact of IT on the environment, the end-to-end story across Tivoli and the Visibility, Control and Automation message as well as the call to action from our WW Sales leader. I recorded the demo that was shown during the session from our VP of Development Laura Sanders.

A quick snack and a few beverages paved the way to the opening ceremonies for the demo showcase areas. I hung out in the two key TBSM booths. You’ll see TBSM in various places but the key folks talking about it will be in one of two booths. We had a great TBSM Blimp hovering over one booth but they were forced to take it down as it was a “fire hazard”.

Had a great trip to the sushi bar again with Alan Braun (@abraun) and then hung out in the Zuri bar for a bit with Ahmed Kira, Maureen Buckley, Bill Headlee, Phil Fritz (@austingringo), Dan Tabor (@robatnad) and a slew of other Tivoli folks.

Tomorrow (today!?!?!) starts bright and early with the official kickoff and follow on track sessions. My session is at 5pm in room 101. I’ll be in the other BSM sessions at 2pm and 3:30pm in room 101 as well taping the content for all to see post-Pulse.

Track me down for the sticker and get in the contest for the best picture of something that represents BSM to you.

  • Glad to hear the blimp concept is still going strong. Rackspace was running one in London last October, and some guys in a neighboring booth found that the little sticky-headed “dart men” that we were handing out would hold on to the blimp for five minutes or so before dropping on some unsuspecting soul. Fortunately for us the openNMS logo was on the caps that had to be removed to expose the sticky, and so was not part of the “package” delivered from on high.

Great narrative of the day and essential updates (especially ReachView and generationE).
