Atlanta Network and Systems Management Technical User Group October Meeting Announcement
Southern Company will host the October ANSMTUG meeting. Following up from our August meeting, we’re going to continue on the track of leveraging the experience of the attendees to drive out stuff that we want to look at. What stuff? That’s the point, let’s as a group talk about what we’re doing and what’s going on and put together a list of products, or methods, or processes that we’d like to know more about. Addressing some of the following questions may help us decide where our interests are:
* What tools aren’t you using but would like to know more about?
* What tools are you using and would like to see how others are using it to see if you’re getting the most out of it?
* Are you hearing more and more about ITIL? What is ITIL? What should you do about it? What about COBIT? CMM?
* Conferences. Which ones are good?
* Vendors. Everyone is buying everyone. Do we want to invite vendors in to help clarify what products wound up where? What’s their roadmap?
This information should help continue to calibrate our future meetings to address the issues and tools in which you’re interested.
Also, we’re scheduled to hear from some folks at Georgia Tech on some development that’s going on there related to making measurements on and processing data for environments like high speed transport networks.
Southern Company is providing food and drink for the October meeting. Please help us out by RSVPing (see link below) if you intend to attend so we can provide a headcount to order the food and drink.
Also, Cox Communications has already signed up to host the November 15th meeting. Thanks to Cox!
What is the ANSMTUG all about?
——————————————-
The Atlanta Network and Systems Management Technical User Group was created to foster collaboration between administrators, architects, engineers, and operators of applications and tools used to manage and monitor networks, systems, applications, services, and business activities.
There are numerous enterprise and service provider companies in the Atlanta area who use best of breed applications and tools from companies such as IBM Tivoli/Micromuse (Netcool), OpenService (NerveCenter), Quest Software (Foglight), Hewlett-Packard (OpenView), EMC/SMARTS (InCharge), Concord Communications, InfoVista, etc. The intent of the group is not to be completely aligned with any particular vendor or solution, but rather focus on network and systems management applications and tools in
general. There will likely be more focus on a select handful of vendor solutions than others, but this will be driven by the users and not the vendors.
