Video of my BarCampESM - Where’s the Beef? Presentation

Thanks to whurley, I’m now “online” in video format. The presentation is available here.

Let me know what you think. I’m I way out in left field here? Will an Open ESM player step up and “own” BSM in the SMB space or battle the “Big4″? I think it’s possible and it would certainly raise the bar for the incumbents!

BarCampESM - Where’s the Beef?

I just concluded my first BarCampESM presentation today on how Business Service Management (BSM) may play out in the Open ESM space. I’ve shared some of my thoughts on what I’d like to know about the leading Open ESM players in terms of their capability to support BSM, industry opportunities for proprietary and open ESM companies, and a conceptual assessment approach to determine how well companies support BSM goals and objectives.

Key thoughts:

  • Are Open ESM Tools BSM Ready?
  • How can the community move up the value chain?
  • How can everyone improve?

My presentation from today is available here: BarCampESM - Where’s the Beef?

BarCampESM - Will you make a difference?

The BarCampESM venue is now confirmed and I’m excited about being there next weekend.

As I blogged when I first heard of this event last August:

“This could be the defining event of the industry. This could change the way things are done. This is your opportunity to share your ideas. This is your opportunity to participate without committing to multi-million dollar investments in software or technology that may not work. This is your “customer advisory council”. You’re on equal ground. You’re on the team. You can make a difference.”

There are a lot of things happening in the Austin area. There are some really cool ESM/ITSM companies, practitioners and end-users that need to be here. This is the capital of Texas after all - they’ve got to do ESM big!! How about UT - what’s happening in academia? How are the future developers, practitioners and ESM end-users being taught today? How will they learn from our mistakes and solve the problems that will still exist if we don’t start changing things today?

I strongly encourage you to attend if you’re in the area. Pass the BarCampESM info to someone you know that should be here!

See everyone Friday night!

BarCamp ESM - The Event that Gets you in touch with Events.

I’ve signed up! I’d love to talk/share/learn about some Business Service Management things! Looks like they’re planning the date still but set Austin as the location.
